Title: The Morning After Rating: T Word count: 850 Summary: Post-Disquiet "missing scene" type fic. Written for defyingnormalcy as part of the adama-roslin holiday gift exchange.
I agree with redrockcan, I could have seen this happening after the end of Disquiet. Leaves me wondering exactly what Saul's expression would have been when he would have seen her in the bed instead of walking into the room :)
LOL, my notes for this fic were like, "Saul's eye grows as big as the Eye of Jupiter when he sees Laura sashay out in Bill's robe"-- I can't even imagine what he would have looked like had he peeked into the rack area upon arrival! :) Thanks for reading.
Oh, this was so sweet. :D I love Laura's thoughts about the night before, and how Bill says he loves her when he wakes up. That's so Bill.
It's great to see them so playful and sweet and domestic. And I'm happy Laura got to stay snuggled in Bill's sheets and robe before waking up for coffee--sounds like a good morning to me.
Oh, oh, oh. I love this so very much. :D The affection between them is so palpable, and as I was reading I just wanted for them to be able to spend all day in bed, tangled up with each other. ♥
This line really struck me:
“I love you,” he whispers against her ear. He hadn’t said it last night-- hadn’t needed to. But now he finally does-- because he wants to, and he can.
It is exactly how and why I imagine Bill telling her that he loves her - not because he needs to declare it, because she already knows, but simply because he can say the words, and because he loves saying them.
Thank you so much for this lovely gift. It was absolutely perfect! ♥
YAAAAAY I'm glad you like your prezzies! Your prompt was excellent. I think I sometimes tend to block out everything that comes after Disquiet (the implication that they are being punished for taking that time for themselves, in the form of the mutiny, is painful), or as someone else mentioned, view The Oath as happening some time (~ a week) after Disquiet, but the way your prompt was worded forced me to look at it a little differently, which was a good thing. So I'm happy you like this little add-on to fill the space between those two shippiest of scenes. It was really a pleasure to write for you!
