On Saturday, Fsu played the Citadel. Claudia(my roommate) had gone over to her friend Leslie's house for a barbeque and Audrey(my other roomie) and I were going to meet her there and ride over to the game together. When we got there, I parked on the side of the road and Audrey and I went inside to get Claudia. We were in there maybe five minutes...the amount of time it took to say hello, grab Claudia and leave.
When we came back outside, my car was gone...it was nowhere to be seen. I started flipping out. Claudia and Audrey thought it had been stolen...I figured my car was too ghetto for anyone to want to steal it so I was thinking it got towed or something. Either way this is bad news for me because I can't afford to pay for the towing or worse, to get a new car.
At this point the ten or so people at Leslie's had come out because they were leaving too. We were all standing there trying to figure it out when I spotted my car in some bushes in a yard down the street. It was four or five houses away and on the opposite side of the street from Leslie's. We all stared at it for a minute when it dawned on me...I must not have put my parking break on.
My car rolled half way down the street, to the other side, into a small ditch on the side of the road, back out of the small ditch and stopped in bushes next to the house. The fact that it didn't hit anything is flipping amazing. There were four or five cars it could have hit on its way. If it had been five feet to the right it would have hit the house. If it had been three feet to the left it would have hit a metal pole sticking a few feet out of the ground. If Claudia is tellling the story, a small child could have randomly walked into the street.
I don't really know how it happened. I always put my parking brake on and neither Audrey nor myself saw or felt it rolling. I just had a very large blonde moment I guess. Best part of the story: When I pulled out of the bushes, everyone saw my car and thought the bushes had totalled my front end...Audrey and Claudia told them that no, my car was really just that ugly. Also, Audrey found it all so amusing that she took pictures so I will get those up soon.
