Peyton was sitting in the office rented under one of her aliases, going over the computer systems for possible security breeches, even though she knew there wouldn't be any. Rachel might be slightly distracted when she was around Sark, but she was always thorough. With a sigh, she logged off the computer, then headed toward the front door of the office.
She, herself, was distracted. She was worried she'd made the wrong choices about who she'd brought in. She wondered who else she could've found, who else would've worked better, who would've been less distracted by the people of the opposite sex working within close quarters. She was trying her damnedest to not be disappointed in herself, because she knew what they could do when they worked toward it. But for now, it seemed to be falling apart.
And maybe she was slightly jealous.
She had her back turned to the hallway, locking up the door handle and turning to leave when she came face to face with Lauren. Peyton took a surprised step back, then raised an eyebrow. "Reed. I thought you went home hours ago."
