yay yulemas!
I had a pretty great Xmas this year. It started off bumpy, but ended up fabulous. Greatest hits included eating a loverly dinner with the in-laws, awesome gifts from timmerz, delicious raspberry french toast for breakfast, playing Scrabble with Tim for the first time and more glorious gifting/Rock Band with my sister and her family.
Then, tim and I came home and partook in our own tradition: watching The Lord of the Rings trilogy. We got through 1 and 2 last night and will probably finish off the third tonight, if all goes well. I also flexed my multi-tasking skills and bought some cloth diapering stuff for Story and some great clearance work clothes for myself from Torrid.
I think I had a bit of a hard time this year because it's so wonderful and different having a daughter at Xmas. I made the mistake of wanting this holiday to be so magical and super special because it's Story's first. Sure, there's nothing wrong in wanting it to be great, but it is kind of crazy to heap up so much expectation on things. Once I chilled out and stopped worrying, life was better.
Plus, she seemed to be at her happiest when lying in my lap while I sang during Rock Band. She was looking up at me, kicking, flailing and laughing/cooing. She really liked to see me rock out. Maybe she'll be a little diva like me.
Sigh... I'm a bit bored today, so I may hit up some friends for hang-outs. Or maybe just lazy time?
