i have a new apartment, thanks to susie, who made a friend in chicago who's starting teacher's college in the fall and wanted to get a really nice aparment. her broker found a 4-bedroom (anyone know anyone who needs an apartment? still looking for roommates.) located at 109th and amsterdam, just a block from the cathedral where i worked and 10 blocks from school. i'm looking forward to it and very happy i didn't have to find it myself.
i believe that svetlana and i are on the same bathroom wavelength. 2 nights ago i went to take out my contacts at 2:50 a.m. -- and she was in the shower! it's phenomenal. she refuses to lift more than 2 plates and 3 glasses at a time, making her position as "bus person" practically pointless. she always has a stomach ailment right before she's supposed to start her shift, she now walks everywhere in her little yellow underware and blue high-heeled sandals. apparently she was a cheerleader and her fiancee is about 6'5".
things are going well. i bought a skateboard in phildelphia and am trying to learn to ride it. i saw farenheit 9/11. i'd love to talk to people about it, but am not really up to posting all my thoughts right now. i'll just say that the footage is amazing, the interviews with people in flint are fantastic, and i really appreciate his sense of how fear has been used to fuel the war (linking it with bowling for columbine, in that way). i wish there was more in the movie about fundamentalist movements, racism, the manipulation of the idea of "human rights," and causes for the war OTHER than the pipeline (although i believe it was a major factor.)
