Okay, so they say the best place to start is the beginning and well here goes.
So I went to my regular doctor like a month and a half ago to complain about the medicine that she has be on because I was really dizzy all the time and I have fainted twice, which is so not cool and I saw on the medicine's website that this is a symptom that it has. She tells me that its not the medicine and "that you probably have a brain tumor, you should get an MRI". I was furious! I can't believe a doctor would say that! There is a thing called a bed side manor! So anyway, I leave and never have the MRI.
So two weeks ago my jaw starts hurting just a little bit. Just something really to complain about, nothing really that I couldn't live with. So I deal. Then Monday it gets really bad, I'm talking I can't eat. I'm in so much pain that there isn't a way for me to open that side of my mouth to even talk. So I call the dentist thinking great I'm going to have to pay for a root canal because insurance doesn't pay for the whole thing. The dentist tells me that it isn't my teeth they are fine, I should see my regualr family doctor. All the while I'm thinking I will not! She's a loon.
So I get an appointment with a doctor I've never seen before. She checks my teeth, yep they are fine. She checks the jaw bone, nope its not popping, the bone is fine. Then she says have you been dizzy? And I say yeah, but its because of the medicine I'm taking, by the way I really don't want to take it anymore because passing out can get rather annoying, plus I would rather it not happen at work. She says how many times a day do you get dizzy and I say well yesterday I counted six, but my jaw hurts. She told me to lay down and she would be back. So I lay there thinking about my jaw hurting and this girl is concerned about the wrong thing. She comes back with a EKG machine. I look and ask the obvious question… whats that for? She said 'I think you have an irregular heart beat, we just need to find out how irregular.' Then I ask the question that I'm sure you are all dying to know…. 'what does this have to do with my jaw?' She said 'Jaw pain is the first sign of a heart attack in women.'
Yeah. That's what I thought too.
So I said, 'Dr. Seuss (not her real name) I'm 26.' and she looked at me and said 'Right…'
The room was silent, while the machine ran.
Then she told me that my heart was pumping too fast, and that when it sent blood to my brain the brain didn't have a chance to use what it needed which resulted in my dizziness and passing out. And finally the moment we've all been waiting for… the reason that my jaw is hurting is because there is a nerve that runs along that side of my face (well everyones face) that the blood runs through and my jaw hurts because just like with stroke victuims my heart has choosen to be mean to that side of my face.
I interupt her to tell her that 'the reason that I'm not going to my other loon doctor (yes I called her a loon in that office) anymore was because she wanted to be get an MRI', she laughed and said 'you have to get an MRI, because we are going to have to rule out some things before we know which direction we want to go for treatment.'
So I ask what exactly are we looking for, she said well the MRI will tell us if it’s a clot that is roaming around causing the problems or if there is a tumor that we need to take out.
~Hi, drawing board, I'm back!~
So yesterday I go for the MRI, we will learn the results Friday at around 8:00, and at 9:15 I have an appointment to get fitted for my heart monitor.
Fabulous.
But, she did take me off that medicine just because she said that she doesn’t' like it, and put me on something else.
My jaw still hurts, well I guess I should say the side of my face still hurts. I have a little trouble walking because the dizziness is twice as bad as its ever been, and I'm totally weak.
So, if you read this you must care, and I appreciate that, or you were just extremely bored, and I appreciate that too! :)
