Megacon Report!
Wow, you know I don’t think I have more fun anywhere else than at a con, but I haven't run into the police yet at one or gotten shitfaced drunk. :p so let me give you the run down, or give myself the possibility of recording this for when my memory inevitably gets fuzzy.
Thursday
-I woke up at four and flew at 6:45 am, and once again freaked myself out since I hadn't flown for a few months. But at least I didn't get so nauseated this ti8me or have a migraine.
-Met TechieCL at the Atlanta hub. We decided since we were sharing a room together we'd fly down together to Orlando. Which I was only too happy to do, especially since TechieCL has such a nice house. :p
-We hit the local burger joint ("Varsity", which is almost as good as in n' Out, almost :p) and the local comic shop. Oh if I only I could have such a place to waste my paycheck at...when I start getting one again.
-Also got the infamous Japanese porno "Ogenki Clinic" from TechieCL's friend Jess. It is truly the best porno there is, it has bunnies, S&M, a red ball, gigantic Styrofoam phalluses, nuns, and schoolgirls! What more could you want?
Friday
-The flight wasn’t too bad, it was only about an hour long after all, and we got to fly through such beautiful cloud formations, though it did give me a headache.
-We arrived at the hotel and after being told they had to still get our room ready we went to the con, it wasn’t open yet but we did get our passes, which was a really good idea because after it opened the line was like an hour long.
-We perused the dealer's room and I found the one x-men product I’ve been looking for forever, a Chamber figurine! For only a dollar too! How awesome is that?! He is now standing atop my bookcase in my room, guarding my canary and finch that have gotten use to hi rather quickly.
-We met some of TechieCL's pals and went to dinner at a roadhouse restaurant for a few pints of beer and good food with plenty of free peanuts.
Saturday
-We finally found Sharona, (Darth Snuggle bunny to you fellow RPers) a mutual online friend of ours. She drew us an amusing comic about an RPG we are all on concerning her OC's love of Colossus, Magneto, and Sabverto9oth. She also drew me the cutest pic of some of the chars. ^_^ Marrow, who I play, Pete Wisdom who TechieCL plays, and her OC Senne. From left to right, Senne, Peter, and Marrow.
-Then it was on to the Paranoia LARP! What's paranoia? Well as TechieCL put it, "Imagine 1984 written by Douglas Adams and the Monty Python crew." I'd also add "while pushing through rush hour Tokyo" because god damn if that dealer’s room wasn’t packed. I think I did rather well though, I only died once and my team came in second place.
-We went to Logan's again, damn that place is good. After we walked out it was my first time walking into a cloud of hot moisture. Ah, Florida.
-Then we went back to the con for the "techno themed dance" Sharona's group, Anime Sushi, put on. It was pretty good, the DJ wasn't too bad (despite what Sharona might say :p) though there were these jackasses in a Congo line that were hell-bent on crushing anyone in their path.
Sunday
-Ah last day of the con, we found Sharona and Colleen (Agent Glitch) and hung out for a while before hitting the dealer's room again to find some bargains. I found a bunch of Excalibur issues and actual gingival comics of The Sandman for 25 cents each! I'm totally thinking of selling those for ten bucks a piece on eBay. Especially the first Doll's House issue, the rest are from The Wake arch.
-Then the flight home, it wasn't too bad I slept and read most of the way. The cities below looked so beautiful lit up on the ground. I could even see the stars if I darkened the window enough.
-I came home gave my sis her comic, said "good night" to all of my animals and went to sleep. : P
Some of my friends brought digital cameras so I should be able to get some pics up soon, and I'll developed my film ASAP. ^_^
