My poor IBM laptop served me faithfully for six years until I spilled water on it Monday morning. It is officially fried; still up in the air whether I'll be able to get anything off the disc drive. Fortunately, I back things up fairly regularly on my external harddrive, but not too regularly, so if the disc drive is unsalvageable, I will lose months of downloaded music, and writing...including some short stories and the outline for a much longer piece/my contribution to NaNoWriMo.
Le sigh.
Also feeling overwhelmed at the thought of buying a new computer...so many options! Oy vey.
Non-sequitar: here is a lovely non-sequitar from my dear mother. I sent her and my father a reminder on Tuesday to go vote in our local elections. This was my mother's reply:
"You know, I've been thinking about that New Year's Eve we spent in Montezuma. Wonder if they still have a street dance at midnight? Would love to buy that little hotel and work in my bathing suit (I know, I'd have to get a new one) all day. There's the goal for the coming year--a bikini job, ha!
