(no subject)
first, some ranting: at the CARE table today, i was explaining why i was vegan (someone asked) and then at the end added that part of why i am vegan is because i don't think that humans should dominate and use sentient beings for their own ends. a girl's response: "but what if that's what we are *meant* to do?" .. "meant? what do you mean?" "well, you know, we evolved to do this" ... well anyway, i think that something that differentiates us from non-human animals is our capacity to not take advantage of everything we possibly are ABLE to do, we can have morals, use judgment, all that. ugh. hey, let's exploit everything.. cause we can, and clearly, religion has something to do with this, right? anyway.... so then, another person came to the table and took some stuff, blah blah. then they came back and picked up a button "ask me why i'm vegan" and asked if they could have it. i asked, "oh, are you vegan?" and she responds: "no" ... what the fuck. okay, really, i don't understand. this is the SECOND person to ask if they can have one of these buttons, and not be vegan. why would you want a button that says that if you aren't one? i am also fairly certain that these two people weren't trying to have them in order to mock us or something with malicious intent. so really, i don't understand their logic....
okay, now i'm going to say that last friday and saturday were extremely sunny and i even got sunburned, part of which was so bad it peeled a little bit. but then after that.. well, dang, now it's back to being super overcast, kind of rainy, windy, blah. i think it fucks with my head. it really will be interesting to live for nearly 10 months in mexico, skipping a winter, in fact. speaking of which, i'll be leaving in roughly 3 months. crazy.......
yesterday i made 'chocolate mexican rice pudding' and it is really good.
also, i kind of miss my computer because right now i pretty much have no access to new music. wahhh. i don't even have a cd player, can you believe that. catherine has one but it's in her room and insanely bulky to move around. but my ipod has had the same songs on it for awhile and i'm starting to get bored with that music. i must conquer new lands, dispossess new music, and use it for my own ends! mwahaha.
