VA event

So, I'm driving myself to distraction over this event. I'm seeing the major struggle with running a LARP, even a one-shot, is not creating story. That is the pleasure, the fun bit. The major struggle is accounting. One must meet with the players, to ensure that they have acceptable characters. One must reserve rooms. One must create hardware for measuring the rules aspects. Fortunately I have had to do very little of this; Jes has been a life-saver. Even so, the stuff that I DO have to do seems nigh overwhelming. And I'm a little bit trepidatious about the event itself; have we created a compelling event which will involve the characters, challenge them, provide them with some opportunity for personal growth? Will we completely destroy the game-world created by the storytellers?

I am full of hope that it will go well. It should. It needs to. We've put in a lot of work, and made a compelling storyline. We've created some very neat scenes. It should go well. However, there's always that problem: What will happen when we let players loose in it? What if they decide to go track down the nearest nephandus and NOT leave feather pillows in his sanctum? What will we do then? What if they summon El Pollo Diablo? More importantly, what if they get bored?
