Though she did not express it in so many words, my mother apparently thought it would be beneficial to my state of mind that I travel to this city for a respite before I stand before the council and learn of its decision regarding my admission to the Vulcan Science Academy. In her insistence she once again demonstrates how little she understands what it is to be Vulcan despite how long she has lived among us. Had I desired such a respite, I could have just as easily achieved it via meditation at home. Moreso, in fact; I am uncertain how one is meant to pursue and attain relaxation in such a place. Indeed, it would seem conducive to the opposite effect, if one were prone to such external influences. Fortunately, I am not.
