remember that anne frank is also the girl that thought her parents were being lazy to not want to go to the labor camps. (maybe i am getting confused with the preteen girl from All But My Life, but its essentially the same) I think children and young adults want to believe that people are really good at heart. It makes them feel better about themselves and what they see in society. If you can think "well it will turn out right in the end because people are really good at heart" it makes it easier on you. I agree with ryan. people are really animals, the only thing that separates us from them is that we have the ability to make a choice to not be self centered. But i dont think many people choose that. there isnt much of an incentive.
adults have unlearned the truth and hidden it behind a veil of meaningless worries and fears and assumptions and years of yearning for that which we all already have - bliss. everything turns out right in the end, because everything is always all right.
