Well I didn't rank the runner-ups,so none of them are ranked higher than one another in that category. I love MCR,JEW,and Green day's albums, otherwise I wouldnt have even considered the for albums of the year. BUT,I think that bands like Interpol,Taking Back Sunday,Owen, and Elliott made much more relevant music this year. There's always at least 10-12 albums that sound like "futures" and "three cheers",even though they're the best at what they do. Try finding any bands doing what the killers, and morrissey do at the level they do it as. and for my defense of U2,they're probably my favorite band still making music other than bright eyes,so I stick with them no matter what. I also defend Eminem and Loretta Lynn and artists like that being on there. No matter how old or new or what category of music they are, those artists made very very creative albums. I think it comes down to a lot of people don't like as wide array of music as they might think they do,and don't ever consider anything from a hiphop artist or a country artist to be as relevant or as meaningful as say a rock band like My Chemical Romance. I love all sorts of music and I indentify with all of it and rank all of it accordinginly.
