Wow. My 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 11th, and 12th grade were spent in Orchestra. 7 years playing the violin and 6 of them were under Ms. Mendoza's instruction. Tonight, we had our last performance at Burges. The last time we play will be April 29 at El Paso High.
It's been a tradition with Ms. Mendoza that on the last Burges concert, she remembers her graduating seniors. After all those years looking on at the classes of 2000 to 2004, I finally got to see what it feels like to be one of those Seniors.
It hadn't hit me until Ms. Mendoza announced that we were next to play. I kept thinking there'd be another concert, another chance to play. This couldn't be it, it just couldn't. But it was. After our first song, she stopped and got the flowers she had ordered for her eight seniors. We're all girls this year.
Well, things were just fine, till it was our turn to give something back to her. We all cooperated to get her a beautiful arrangement of wild flowers and a gift card to Olive Garden. When Lisa got up to present it to her, she only got a few words out before the tears hit her. It was such a beautiful moment and Lisa, trust me, it told Ms. Mendoza exactly how much we all love her. You and Mily did a great job putting tonight together!!
Well, as for El Paso High, everyone is more than welcome to go support us. We play at 6 p.m. in the auditorium.
It's official. With only 34 days of school left, Senior year is winding down to a close. Wow
