You glanced at the ring on your finger, lingering in the familiar weight upon it. The feeling was just like your love for him, heavy and protecting. After years of knowing each other you decided to love him silently, symbolizing silently that you're bound to him.His smile is not the brightest that you ever seen in your life, nor his voice is the smoothiest. But there's something in him that makes you can't let go. And everyday you have to deal with the feeling of onesided love. You never knew how he feels, and you weren't interested to know. Let yourself think that you're bound to him.
But after these years, seeing him with girls (Seohyun, Victoria, Sooyoung) you started to wonder if the bond is necessary anymore. You wished for him a complete happiness, and ponder, how will you give him happiness, if you continue to bound with him.The first time you take off your ring, there's a weird sensation, a squench in your heart. The feeling of letting go.You put your ring on your table in your shared bedroom. It was a cloudy morning, and it seem like the sky doesn't approve your decision. The first one who realized that was Eunhyuk and he only stared questioningly at you and your finger. You waved him off, told him that you're going out and please tell Leeteuk that you'll be back at night.
You breathed deeply and began to walk. You wore disguises so that people won't recognize you.You took the bus and heading to train station. You randomly picked one destination and let yourself mingled with the busy life of train station. You looked outside your window and let yourself be taken with the changing view. You wondered if his heart was like that and why yours isn't. You let the sound of the train lulls you and let yourself taken away.
The manager called you somewhere at 12, when you've just reached the unknown destination. You listened for good 5 minutes, before flipping your handphone and walk. You're hungry. After you ate, you called a cab and asked the driver to show you around. The cab driver told you excitedly about the place you're at now, but the words barely reached your ears.
When he shows you the beach and offerrf you to enjoy the view, you took off your shoes, and walk barefooted to the beach. The seagulls and the waves calmed your chaotic heart
and you wondered while digging on the sand, why you didn't miss the weight on your finger. You watched as the sands slip away from the space between your finger and finally, finally, you learn how to let go.
You asked the cab driver to take you back to the station. This time you paid attention to his story. You listened to his ramblings about his life, his politic view, his niece who's obsessed with Super Junior (you had to smile at this) and how young people like him should appreciate life. You listened and listened and along with his words, your uneasiness gone.
When the train moved, you closed your eyes and with one breath you let it go. You realized there's wetness in your cheek but it's okay, it's the part of moving on.You let out a sob, but you managed to close your mouth, your eyes (and your heart).
When you reached the station, there's no van, no manager, no Leeteuk. It's him who picked you up.You stared blankly at him before collecting yourself and smile brightly. But before you uttered a word, he engulfs you in his bear hug, whispering words that you can't recognize since you're too absorbed in his hug. He let go and looks straight in your eyes and said that you have made him sick with worries and heartbroken when he saw your ring at the table. You narrowed your eyes and asked why and he answered that all this time, he liked to imagine that the ring was a symbol that you're bound to him, that you belong to him, and he couldn't afford to tell you this in spite of you explaining that it's not the function of the ring. He stopped talking when he sees tears coming from your eyes and he moved forward to wipe them off. Despite your blurry eyes, you managed to smile at him, grabbed his face and kiss him.
On your way back, you realized that he brought something all along (his left hand gripped something) and your eyes widened when you see two identical rings there. He offered you one (that is so unromantic, you later told him) and said that now that the ring has its pair, you don't have to suffer alone.
