The Space Pope
I have no issues with religion, in fact I think it is a great idea, people just fucked it up. My take on it is that, yes Virginia, there is a God, or Buddha, or (insert deity here), and they are all one and the same. This higher power thought; Look at all these people I am making, placing whities in Sweden, brown people in the deserts, black people in the jungles, every where I put people they look, feel, and act different.
The one thing they need to make it through the day is the same though, they need to believe. They need something to hold on to to get through the day. So IT created religions, many different ones. Norse, Greek, Roman, Egyptian mythology, all for them because it was what they needed. Christianity, Islam, Reality Tv. Whatever, so every one had something, no matter what you think or how you feel something is there for you.
Then people got involved. And rather than believe and enjoy life, they were more worried about what others believed and wanted to make sure it was the same as what they themselves believed. If it wasn't, well, by golly, they are going to believe, yessir! And to make people believe, you need to fight them, and kill them, and for that you need money.
From there it spiraled, and a good idea, end with terrible execution because of the people involved.
Something we do a lot as a species. We can't just be happy with what we have and think, we need others to feel the same way.
