I just read through my previous entry, oh my.
Typolicious. In my defense I was sat on the bed like... 3m away from the monitor, (why didn't you move closer? yaya stfu)
First Minamicon is over and done with, was... well, very nice. So long as you ignore the extortionate prices the Novotel bar was charging (£3.50 for vodka & coke is kind of do not want.) Drive over and back is fine, one hr motorway work is pretty easy going.
Thursday:
Morning lectures till 11am or so which was a pleasant 2hrs shorter then I was expecting :D Though even with that we didn't actually get on our way till about 7-8pm or so and convoy train'd it to So'ton in the hands of my trusty SatNav. Only managed to mess up once when I got in the wrong lane for a roundabout and managed to loose Andrew and Ben when I decided to cut up a white-van-man to get into the right lane (NO FEAR >:O) Everyone else was in the Novotel whilst I was in the Ibis with Raeyne myself. Room was pretty nice actually, not bad at all. Better then the Etap lolz.
Friday:
Ended up sitting around with Myst and a couple of DDR:UK folk all morning in the bar area of the hotel whilst registration was going on. Ended up with my ghetto con badge (hand written name on it ftw) which was alas taken off me later and I was given a proper one for fear that I might give it to someone else and they could write their own name on it zomg. Turned out to be unfounded fear though since I don't think the Aeyze came off... ever. Endorsed by the fact that someone was wearing it around later 'cause their badge was temporarily off with someone else for... some reason idk.
Oh oh oh, most surreal thing happened on Friday too. Whilst I was sat with the DDR:UK guys after registration I caught sight of two girls I knew from school, very stylishly dressed looking... very out of place. At first I thought they were just staying at the hotel or something. Oh gawd I think a part of me died when I saw they were both wearing membership badges. It was even stranger when (after both of them came and sat with me) one of them lamented that they hadn't found the time to finish their Chii cosplay...
Seriously.
Brain. Broken.
If they pop up in any photo's posted anywhere I'll have to show you just how... amazingly out of place they looked.
Friday night was also the party, disco and variety show, which entailed such wonders as the speed cosplay (one box of materials, two people with imaginations and one unwilling volunteer) wasabi filled rice ball eating competitions and "drawing stuff and having some poor sod try guess what it was" competitions. I somehow managed to get volunteered up for one of the later by my friends sat around me, but we won so I'm not too bitter about it.
Saturday:
Dealers room, much money was spent, Masquerade, many lols were had over pictochat, and which ever grumpy bastard it was who was whining about pretty much every costume should gtfo really. Drunk too much expensive drinks. Also was sat behind someone who obviously had too much money at the auction, £200+ on some evangelion statues and like... £160 on a set of con badges. srsly.
Sunday:
Gopher party was fun, drank too many different kinds of miscellaneous wine and sake. Drew on Pchan as he kept falling asleep and had to rescue someones girlfriend from the girls toilets. Fun fun fun.
Monday:
Monday was good.
Raeyne paid for our room even though he hadn't been there half the time (oh ho ho, room all to myself is ftw though, I've given up caring about his concept of monogamous relationships (his apparent lack there of at any rate)) packed the remaining stuff back into the car nps and hung around till the rest of the committee headed out.
Discovered that doing emergency stops with flatpacks at head height in boot is bad idea. Almost get taken out by 2 by 4 is not a good way to arrive back in Reading.
Also my car steering wheel starts shaking really bad at 80mph, this I already knew, but I also discovered once you hit 95mph the shaking stops! Amazing! Pchan was not quite so impressed though. EVEN IF YOU DID MANAGE TO FALL ASLEEP FOR LIKE 15MIN ON THE WAY BACK >:o lazy bugger. We got back at about 1:30pm ish and I played Xenosaga III for like 9 hrs...
KOS-MOS <3
Gets of the weekend were a few volumes of manga, Death Note wall hanging (for me :D) and Death Note 13 - How to read (for a friend) and a couple of little bits and things.
I didn't take any of these photo's, credit for them goes to those sharing photos on the
forum thread. Maybe I'll plead for a new camera for AmeCon. Being out of uni for 5 days solid is... so weird. SO MUCH WORK TO DO BEFORE TERM ENDS! D: Essay writin' go go go go go. Under two weeks!
