First of all, let me say *ding!* You are correct, sir! Thomas A. Anderson. I was actually watching that movie while I was writing this and since Neo's real name had always been one of those things that had nagged at me that I didn't really know it, I seized on the opprotunity to see if anyone else knew it. It's only mentioned once in the whole movie, after all.
I'd have to agree with you about sacrifice. It's something that I've always wondered about religion, growing up Catholic (though I'm currently a Nothing). I never understood how one would gain a greater awareness of spiritual depth by denying the nature that was bestowed upon us by our creator. It also seems rather illogical to deny the right to reproduction to those who should, in theory, be the best suited towards raising children in the church. But that's a matter of politics, really.
My demons are my own, and I would guess none too different than most. I'm glad to hear that you're learning to reach out to people through your own struggles. That's something that I, too, need to work on. Asking for help just isn't something that I do. Perhaps that is my greatest weakness, an unawareness of my dependence on other people and the lacking recognition that that dependence is not a weakness in and of itself.
If you ever need to talk about anything, you know where to find me. It's great to hear from you, man. It's been too long.
