live commentary: leahy vs. roberts

Sep 13, 2005 09:19

sen. patrick leahy seems to be implying a similarity between the situations during which those of Japanese descent were confined in the WWII Japanese-American internment camps, and the current US policy of prejudice towards certain Middle-Eastern ethnicities in the guantanamo bay camp x-ray situation

q.v. the "Do we really need to relearn the lessons of Japanese American internment?" by Fred Korematsu (RIP) WWII Japanese-American internment camp survivor and protestor, successful supreme court appelee, and Medal of Freedom recipient (highest award given to US civilians).

(thanks to Black Moon for reference)
