ok, so maybe it's more of a meta-theme?
so, i was musing about the burning flipside town hall meeting coming up this saturday,
and i came up with this suggestion for a theme...

cyborgs, mutants, extropians, nanobots, furries, bio-mechanics, a.i. & wetware wizards
...converge with...
existentialists, gutter punks, nihilists, atavists, revolutionaries, monkeywrenchers, chaoists, & d.i.y. crusties

not just the same old techno-industrial cyber-shamanistic stuff!
although perhaps i have ruminated about such things before in posts such as these:
"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic"
confession time for metatron...

(unless y'all would prefer something completely different... are we brave enough to ignore copyrights and have a détournement war? ...for instance, disney vs. warner brothers, a la adbusters?)

It's about half a year until Flipside and we still don't have a theme! Join us for a Town Hall meeting on November 13, and help pick our theme for Flipside 2005.
What: Theme Selection Town Hall for Flipside 2005!
Where: Elysium Nightclub: www.elysiumonline.net/about
When: Saturday, November 13 - From 3pm until 6pm
Meeting Agenda:
* Introduction of the "Combustion Chamber"
(LLC - 45 Minutes)
* Ticket and Sticker Judge Announcement
(!Bob - 10 minutes)
* Theme Thunderdome. 23,426,993 Themes Enter. 1 Theme Leaves.
(Sparky - 60 minutes for discussion, 30 minutes for voting)
* Ticket and Sticker Contest Guidelines
(!Bob - 10 minutes)
Theme selection details:
If you'd like to have 60 seconds to support your theme at the town hall meeting, please create a thread for your theme on the shiny new theme selection forum: www.burningflipside.com/Event/Theme2005
There will be a limited number of wildcard slots at the town hall, but please save those for people who don't have web access. If you can pre-announce your theme and start getting people excited about it now, please do so.
Location details:
As always, Elysium's bar will be up and running during the meeting. We're asking that smokers and people involved in loud conversations take it outside during the meeting hours, from 3-6pm.
An afterparty or two are certain to materialize, so keep an eye on the austin-events list for details. :)
