I have been much the hermit for far too long. After a long dark night of my soul, I have decided to emerge from the underworld and celebrate my social nature.
Monday evening,
harliquinmayhem and I enjoyed a lovely time together, projecting the movie, "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" at
Cafe Mundi. It was a time for us to "accentuate the positive" elements in our beautiful relationship.
After Cafe Mundi, I arrived at games night just in time to join in a four person game of Twister. I was a contender up until it became a sudden death mode judo match, in which I was trounced by the victorious Princess Kori.
After games night's midnight curfew, a few of us regrouped at
Mojo's for a couple of intense games of Gnostica, lasting until around seven the next morning.
Lexicat has the scoop.
Last night, I made a late appearance at Bruce Sterling's annual bash. There were no dueling robots, this time, but many SXSW attendees represented. I have to admit that I was not feeling extremely talkative at first, and I wasn't quite sure what I was doing there. I hope that I didn't offend anyone with my apathy. Oh well, I crawled out of my shell eventually, and participated in distilling some wine into brandy -- powerful stuff, woo! I also had a curious conversation with
blanu,
Lexicat, and
Lisa Rein. Later, my friend
John Funk showed up, and we had curiouser and curiouser conversations over Iced Black Russians with a couple of ladies who stayed to talk after everyone else had long left the party.
My particular topic of focus lately, has been the inevitable paradigm shift from TV to Wireless Broadband. Lisa had some cutting edge info about intelligent methods of sharing bandwidth, which she says she will post soon on her
wireless index. I was also able to speak with
Bruce Sterling about the issue. If I may paraphrase him, he seems to think the whole thing will be mired in litigation for 20 years. But IMHO, Big Media wants to make some money, and I tend to think we will see ubiquitous wireless broadband systems within the next decade, or possibly sooner. Maybe I should get back to my studies, so that I will be poised to take advantage of that, or whatever else happens, when it comes along.
Keep up the Great Work, y'all!
