i'm afraid it's all too true...
in fact, i was just talking with sartael about how my favorite doctor who series is terminus; which, imho, is the story in which the doctor (in his fifth incarnation) finally shows the most genuine emotional commitment to one of his companions: nyssa... as she chooses to leave his company in order to lend her medical skills to a leper colony, in which she will in all likelihood meet her demise.
