ashes, ashes... we all fall down!

to celebrate Guy Fawkes Day, today... rather than just reading &/or watching V for Vendetta, again... I have decided to transcribe a reply here, that i had made to a recent post on a local email list, which i thought was relevant:

"the belgian waffle lives ...albeit at a Lexus promotion"

...all the better reason to burn it down!
that was what the "Message from the Future" was all about, right?
"Burn it! Burn it to ashes! Out of the ashes Uchronia rises."

11/28/09 ADDENDUM: to clarify, when uchronia did an ad for lexus using their waflle technique, many people were quite upset to have something they associated with burning man used in advertising... although artists do have to eat (and no money exchanged hands on the playa, so it couldn't be taxed... which is really where this whole "no commerce" thing began, if you ask me... even if many people, including myself, are fascinated with alternative economies)

(although, honestly... I think of something completely different when I hear the words "belgian waffle")

seriously... just to make things clear, i'm not some kind of Luddite who hates technology & civilization

although i am sensitive to the issues addressed by ecological revolutionaries

however, i do not generally advocate violence, intimidation of persons, or destruction of property...

but i'm not exactly willing to buy transhumanism's utopian dream of singularity, either..

in the meantime, i will just stick to culture jamming... it's a lot more fun!

civilization, culture jamming, utopia, film, sexism, dream, burn culture, ahimsa, ecology, green party, violence, non-violence, ghandi, revolution, intimidation, message from the future, satyagraha, green, burn, criticism, technology, transhumanism, movie, property, singularity
