It's my gradual descent into a life I never meant

So, I got a job. Well, it's temp to perm, but usually I have a greater problem getting in the door than staying there once I have, so I'm not worried about making this a permanent thing for as long as I want it to be.

I am admittedly not in love with the type of business I'm working for, a collections agency, but I'm not on collection side of things, which would just be too much like sales for me, except possibly a little more unpleasant. Instead, for the moment, I update the records of people who have filed bankruptcy on their accounts. After two days, though, I've spent one day learning about collections law, and most of today spent in the slowest software tutorial ever. It was seriously just painful to me, and considering that the guy who was teaching does collections, and was focusing on that aspect of the program, it was not just slow, but most of it had nothing to do with what I needed to know. But once I got through that part of the day, and actually made it to my department, things were better. I won't claim that the job looks like fun, but it doesn't look like absolute drudgery, and I figure they'll be adding new things for me to learn for a while which will keep me interested, and oh yeah, the novelty of not waiting tables and all that that entails.

This job has also made a commuter out of me. I have to take the Commuter Rail to work, though I'm going the opposite direction from the masses, as I'm already pretty much in the city. Thanks to this fact, I have finally finished reading Love in the Time of Cholera. I really tried to like it, but I just never really did. I just didn't like the characters enough. So, now I have to look through the shelves to decide on what to read next, though what I really want to read, I should probably wait until my first paycheck to pick up. Bah to budgeting!

Meanwhile, at 28 hours into 1 week voting process of the comic contest submissions, and my comic is not doing well at all, receiving 4 votes out of a possible 21 (there's no limit to how many one can vote for, but the top one is at 12, which puts mine in a distant 3-way tie for fifth). Just feeling disappointed, since I put a lot of work into it.

Anyway, 11:00 has snuck up on me, and it is sadly bedtime.
