I miss Florida place names. Ichetucknee Withlacoochee Chattahoochee Okeechobee, Tallahassee, Ocoee.
I also like how a slight vestigial southern accent manifests itself when I'm on the phone with southerners...Flordia accents don't begin to approach the deep tidewater drawl of Georgians and Carolinians, but I still picked up quite a little twang in my speach growing up, especially from back when Ocoee was still a backwater amalgam of swamp and trailer parks.
Central Florida's real estate boom and the coming of the glitzy gated suburb, not to mention my own evolution into a surly gothy geeky nerd of a teenager pounded my speech back into the boring american academic standard...but its still fun to slip back now and then. "Yall free to call back, come yall need anything else"
But then I also like the little bits of MidAtlantic LatteLiberal speech I pick up from my Maryland friends. "Skeeve" is a great word, and I've become very attached to the phrase "Play cute with."
