I've been considering France's recent troubles, and have come to a personally troubling conclusion: despite all my multiracial-children-holding-hands-under-a-rainbow political leanings, I truly sympatize more with the French side of the argument

Multiculturalism is an interesting issue. It brings in so many questions: globalization, culture, definitions of identity, issues of belonging and responsibility. How do we even define culture? What differentiates a sub-culture from a culture? Where does identity fall in all of this and how do we allow for free choice in identity associations beyond culture
