I managed to capture a picture of the bird that I first saw on the 24th of January. Here it is:
I'm even more certain that it is a Pine Grosbeak. Here is another shot, but it was take through a window and isn't as clear.
These pictures made me quite happy but it's the next one that really excites me. I attended my first photography workshop on Saturday. My camera is now set in manual. A whole new world has opened up. I took the photo below at 5 pm with no other light other than what was coming in the the window. (no flash) The focal length was set at 38mm, the shutter speed at 1/4s and the aperture at f/5. The ISO was set at 1600, white balance set to "cloudy" and light metering was set to "spot".
I think this is so cool!
I still have to work on composition (the one third rule) but over all I'm quite proud.
