It's been a few days since my last post.
Hubby has gone back to Fort McMurray. It was wonderful having him home for an extra few days. He put up shelves in the pantry under the stairs and rearranged the basement. It looks more roomy now and the furniture will likely stay where he has placed it. We even enjoyed a fire in our burn pit. I hope that we will enjoy many more in the years to come. Perhaps we will enjoy ringing in the new year sitting around a fire toasting with hot chocolate and marshmallows. We starting doing that at the turn of the century and even though we haven't done it every year since then it is something to look forward to. Hubby will be on days off then so who knows.
I've been a blah the last few days and haven't slept well in several nights. Today would have been my dad's 77th birthday. We didn't see each other very often and in the last few years we weren't all that close but I miss him. It would have been wonderful to share my wild flower discoveries with him.
My relationship with my parents has been awkward since my diagnosis of breast cancer nearly 4 years ago. I'm not sure why. My mom and I talk more often now. I wish she lived closer though. It's three days of driving from here to where she lives.
