How does one sprain her finger while doing housework??? I don't remember doing anything out of the ordinary. All I know is that index finger on my left hand seems to be sprained. It's not bruised, and doesn't look swollen but it hurts and is a little stiff. At least it doesn't seem to be much of a bother.
I spent most of the day house cleaning. The main floor is looks better than it has since Christmas day. The dining room table is cleared off and has a table cloth on it. I'm actually sitting at the desk typing with my Mac on the desk! I have candles burning in a few rooms so the house smells wonderful too.
It snowed most of the day with sun finally making an appearance just before sunset. Before I shoveled snow I took a couple of pictures of my winter wonderland.
This one is of one of our big spruce trees in the front yard... unfortunately I didn't capture the top of the tree.
This one is of our Muskoka chairs and the burn pit in the back yard. If it hadn't been so cold on New Year's Eve we would have been out there enjoying hot chocolate to ring in the new year.
Even though the sun wasn't out it was still nice outside. A bit cold and a little windy but not bad. I was plenty warm shoveling. It was pretty quiet outside so I was able to hear the wind blowing through the spruce trees. It sort of sounded like the rush of angel wings. (or what I imagine they sound like) If I closed my eyes (and it was a lot warmer) it could have been the wind in the trees at
opakele's family summer home when we visited last summer. I've lived most of my life inland, far from either ocean but I was really captivated by the west coast. Of course the company had a lot do to with my fondness of the locale.
I was pretty cold by the time I finished clearing the sidewalks so I warmed up for a while and then headed out to check the mail and pick up a new flapper for the toilet. Hubby said he would install it while he's home on his next days off. He is supposed to be home late this evening (catching a ride with a friend - co-pilot to keep the driver awake) but with all of the snow I don't know if the highway will be in very good condition.
I moved my rocking chair (the one that was just reupholstered) into the living room. It was in our sitting room, but there were too many things in there so I moved it next to the window in the living room. I can see the bird feeders from where it is positioned and the light is good for knitting or cross stitch.
I'm tired after all my work today. Time to relax.
