as was that ;;turkishlyDecember 25 2011, 17:09:48 UTC
[Pausing as the other jumped, Turkey arched an eyebrow beneath the cover of his mask and to compensate the lack of visibility to the other, gave a small tilt to his head. The others look of surprise came as it’s own surprise to him but still, while his smile faltered slightly a small one began to tug at his lips once more.] Ah--did I catch yah in thought, there?
Sorry ‘bout that, I was just bringin’ some tea t’ lighten up during the storm.
[Slavery had been presence since the dawn of man and while Turkey had not existed that far within, he knew ownership and he knew freedom. The life of a nation could be similar to that, in which empires consumed and owned, used and manipulated. Just now--he found his successes and could finally have his own freedom, his own lands, his own people could know what it felt like to be free to do as they pleased instead of possessed. He was not about to claim he knew what the other was going through but for now, he could at least do something to keep his mind off of whatever plagued him.
So, quietly he turned his body and moved to sit aside him as he took up the tea pot within his grip, tilting the spigot downward and allowing the amber liquid to fill the glass.]
Laurent's life sucked ;;aeterno_armaDecember 25 2011, 23:00:44 UTC
Yes, sorry I was...thinking about the past.
[Laurent gave him a sheepish smile, embarrassed. Turkey offered him a place to stay while visiting his land and he was wasting time focusing on bad memories. Laurent's eyes fell to the tea pot and the smile widened.]
You are the best guess anybody could ask for, you know?

No need t' apologize. You act as if that's a bad thing. It's only bad if yah let it control your life. [Came the smile in turn as he looked to the other once he had topped off two of the glasses. The scent of the mint filtered into the stormy air, warming the environment despite the mild child outdoors that was brought upon the winds and the rain. In the distance, the sky rumbled.]
Am I now? Well now you're just tryin' to carm me, arn't yah?

I try not, but it's hard to get rid of certain memories, liek it's hard to ignore the past.
[Laurent gave him a grateful smile and took one of the glasses. He looked outside, frowning very slightly for a brief second. The storm was getting worse. When he looked back at Turkey he was smiling one more time.]
Who knows...maybe I am. That doesn't make my words less true.

It is hard t' ignore the past, that is very true but it's what yah do with the memories that counts. [He gives a smile in turn, taking up a glass and pulling up his sleeve in the same motion.]
I think you might be, and you're doin' a good job at it! If I could make choice I would say yah remain here, but you have eager feet, don't yah Laurent?
[Laurent smells the drink, his smile growing when he notices the sweet scent. He waits until Turkey has his glass before taking a small sip and making a brief, pleased, sound.]
That's really nice of you to offer, but I don't really want to be a bother. [Laurent is so used to travel that he never imagined staying for long in one place, but that also implied that he never had a proper home. Turkey's place, whoever, is his favorites one to visit.] Do you enjoy traveling?
