Real words! In sentences! In PARAGRAPHS!

Alert the presses!

Alright, so to be fair, most of these are by no means recent (by which I mean within the past 9-10 months), but then again, some of them are, so hah! I can still write! Even if it's not really anything productive, it still feels good.

In order in which they were created:

1 - Original

This really is the coldest place on earth. Maybe not physically cold, but…ah, if you were here, you’d know. There are people everywhere, but they’re weird, sort of off. Their skin is too bright and their eyes are too dark. They’re noisy, laughing raucously to each other and jumping around; wide grins full of blinding fangs are bared and covered quickly.

‘Don’t sleep’, they’re saying, and even though they’re looking at each other it feels like they’re all talking to you. ‘Don’t leave. Don’t eat. Don’t think.

‘Just feel.’

Your head is starting to hurt, probably because of the light. There’s entirely too much of it, and you shield your eyes with your hand. Someone taps your shoulder all of a sudden, and you look up regretfully. A girl is staring down at you, fire dancing over her scalp.

‘You okay?’ she asks.

‘Of course,’ you answer, and smile. Your mouth feels like it’s cracking apart, and you suddenly afraid that you’re bleeding and they’ll smell it and come at you all rabid and snarling like wolves…

But the girl just smiles back, flashing needle-sharp fangs in a painted mouth. ‘Good,’ she says, and continues on her way.

Maybe the staircase isn’t the best place to sit.

2 - Stella Deus (not really spoiler-y, just something I kept expecting to happen, and then it never did)

“I told you. Nobody will follow a leader who’s weak.”

The words hit you like a fist in your stomach, and you suck in a gulp of air. Grey’s eyes are blank and hard as he says those words so casually, as if they were nothing at all. Adara won’t even look at you. Her alchemic arm is shaking.

You look over at Viser, where he stands next to the throne. He’s anxious; he can’t seem to decide where to focus.

Suddenly furious, you turn back to Grey. “You can’t actually believe them, can you? You saw the golems! That’s what alchemy really does! Even Adara’s arm…”

“Shut up!” Adara cries, her eyes wild, and suddenly you’re flat on your back on the ground, staring up at Grey, your jaw throbbing from the impact of his fist.

“Don’t you dare speak to her!” he shouts. His eyes show nothing but hatred, and you wish they still showed nothing at all.

“Grey…”

“Get him out of here!”

Two pairs of hands grab you roughly under your arms, and the heavy doors swing shut between you and your once-friends as you’re dragged from the room.

3 - Original, sort of connected, but only sort of

He's back against the wall, teeth clenched through his lip and it runs warm down his chin. Never overestimate yourself, they'd said. Don't think you can do anything save everyone keep anything because it's just not so. And so he's done nothing saved no one kept nothing and he's crumpled and lost in a corner against the wall with his teeth in his lip and his fingers in his hair that's wrapped wild and violent in his skin.

The mirror's long gone but he still can't forget what he looks like. He sees himself in the walls and windows and metal. He saw himself in an old man, a weak woman, a whimpering child. He doesn't see himself there anymore.

Past the window the sky flows past, more fluid than any sea he's ever swam in. He's lost himself in the sky before, lying in the square on the floor so he can see out and pretend that's him. That's why his walls are empty and he sleeps against the wall, thin blankets tangled in his legs and his eyes open.

Bitten down, torn down, burning red and black and too damn HOT his fingers scrabble and stutter over cold skin and empty eyes.

4 - Weiss Kreuz, Schuldig's mind, not even a proper drabble, just  a line or two, but I am strangely compelled to make it into something real...

He toys with their minds because that's all they really are. They shrivel and stretch under his touch, but his favourite part is when they have stretched too far and they snap back with a shriek only he can hear.

Now wasn't that entertaining?
