I've read a lot of rants about our current political dilemma. Most people rant on about policies and what is best for the country or what is best for them personally.
Most of what I've heard from parties is slagging off the opponents and name calling and money spent to make a mockery of the opposition. I have no faith in any of the parties or candidates in this election, being that this isn't democracy it's selective dictatorship. All this is beside the point.
Don Brash is a millionaire.
Helen Clarke is not.
The Greens are there for reasons that are not their own. ie. the good of our countries ecology.
Motives are what drive our politicians to assume a position of power. It's easy to recognize whether the motives are personal or not. This is how I will be making my decision. Because in the long run politicians who are in this for their own reasons are less likely to keep promises and less likely to point our government in a progressive direction.
