This was absolutely fantastic!

I don't usually read AU because I am such a stickler for canon like you won't believe -- and AU doesn't usually encompass the kind of things which make me so attracted to this pairing and to the characters. But you managed to encapsulate and reinterpret them in an extremely believable way. I loved the characterization and the dialogue -- the D/s and UST was unbelievably hot and the way you built up tension was palpable.

You have a wonderful talent for writing as well; there were a ton of lines in here that really resonated with me. These two lines, in particular, really stuck out to me:

He'd heard too much of what he did not want, touched, felt, seen and smelled too little of what he did.

And he'd tasted that pungent, bittersweet flavor, that fleshy, unsatisfying bite of what he could only call some new and uncontrolled beginning.

What I felt was definitely the strongest aspect of the piece is how you write Sasuke's experience -- the sensory imagery, the way in which he perceives things that are happening to him, the physicality of his relationship with Kakashi, his reliance on his other senses to articulate an understanding of the situations he is going through.

I found your use of a blindfold in taking away Sasuke's vision very interesting -- if I were to analyze this, I would almost wonder if this is somehow a representation of Sasuke's canonical blindness. By this, I do not mean literal blindness, but rather, his blindness towards what should truly matter the most; in many ways, canonically, Sasuke has lost his vision for what he perceived to be his method of attaining retribution for his family, and now he is blindly following a path that is only leading him to destruction. I really, really love that he "regains his sight" through Kakashi -- though that could just be me overanalyzing it or applying my own reading of blindness, Sasuke, and Kakashi to your fic. xD;

Either way, I think you did a great job, and I look forward to reading more KakaSasu from you. I seem to have missed your debut back in September... I'll most likely read it when I take my next break from grad applications.

Anyway, I've gone and friended you -- hope you don't mind. ^^

I should add that I am extremely enthusiastic that our ship has a new, talented writer who handles humor and controversial material extremely well. Loved the tongue-in-cheek satiric elements, and I highly respect you for your sensitivity in having Sasuke question the "off-colored" nature of that extremely appalling rape apologism Kakashi sprouted.

Wow.

... oh man. Oh, wow.

Firstly, I am SO sorry that I'm only just now responding to this! It's that time of year, it seems, when life just blows up in your face and takes control of the wheel. I'm so horribly late to responding to these lovely comments that I'm downright embarrassed. But yes, ahem. Wow. The mind, it boggles!

Secondly, I am so incredibly honored that you enjoyed a genre of fic that normally doesn't do it for you! That's just... wow, yes. A huge ginormous, breath-taking compliment!

And as for the parts you really enjoyed, EEEEEEEE. I, ahem. Okay, so. I will just admit to being a huge fan of sensory deprivation and sensory overload -- anything that plays with the senses realy does it for me, so to hear that what I wrote worked for you is a massive relief. YAY!

AND HA! I rather think we'd get on quite well if our joint tendencies to look way underneath the underneath is concerned. XD Damn it, I am just glowing here. That you read all of that into something I wrote... that what I had in my head actually translated successfully... yeah. Speechless. I just feel very encouraged. So thank you for all of this. You've really made my day.

And ah! Good luck with grad school applications! Speaking of grad school, I'm friending you back right now! But I hope you don't mind that the vast majority of my journal at the moment is quite RL-centric. I happen to be chugging my way through grad school at the moment, so yeah. Most of my entries will probably bore you to pieces.

And oh damn, oh man. Heeee, I'm so bad at taking compliments, but I am wildly enthused about all that Kakasasu has to offer. It's a lovely corner of fandom to slip into. Very welcoming. :D :D
