I can't believe I'm asking  Is anyone particularly familiar with overpriced French wines?  I need to impress a client who apparently will not drink anything that is not from France.  Cachet is apparently more important than taste and yes, I have tried to sell him on the virtues of a quality Napa Cabernet.  If it doesn't start with Chateau, it is ( Read more... )

What are you planning to have with the wine? Anything?

I'm not sure. Thankfully I'm not being forced to cook, just to entertain a client who is miserable about being stuck in town tonight and apparently feeling spiteful.

He mentioned something about a chateaubriand.

Chateaubriand is filet mignon, which, luckily for you, goes best with a red wine. I'd suggest going with one from the Bordeaux region-- something like Côtes de Bourg or Saint-Estèphe.

Chateau Petrus works too.

Oh, French wines may take me a bit out of my element, but steak I know quite well! I'm just uncertain if Robert intends on having chateaubriand with me or if it has something to do with his ex who he was yelling at on the phone at the same time we were making dinner plans. Such a lovely man, I swear.

Thanks for the recommendations, I definitely appreciate it. One of the three should work quite nicely to close this deal once and for all. I hope

Well, you're getting wine out of the deal no matter what else happens. That's always something of a bonus.

Any time, Is.

True enough, although at the moment I would much rather take the wine back to my place and curl up on the sofa with a good movie.
