Tomorrow I go sign the lease on my new apartment.
The last one I saw was really nice, but I didn't get it; I think the lady was less than forthcoming, however, so I am not sorry.
This one is in West Ridge as well, about a mile from the other one. It's a nice area of Chicago, about a mile or so from Devon Avenue, which has a heavy Indian population. There are lots of Sari shops, some beauty stores, fruit shops, etc along there - I'd love to own a sari!
The apartment is gorgeous; the living room has a bay window which is great. There is a little alcove sort of thing in the living room that will work perfectly as an office. There is a large, formal dining room, which is separated from the kitchen (and possibly the living room) by a glass door - like one half of a set of French doors. The kitchen is gorgeous; there is an island (I'll have to get some bar stools that swivel), and the countertops are in granite. There is a HUGE walk in pantry as well. There is one small part of the wall in the kitchen that is kind of a built-in wine rack. There is a dishwasher, which is a huge plus to me; I wouldn't move into a place without one (can you tell I hate washing dishes?).
Then of course there are the bedrooms - three of them, and one bath. Downstairs there is a storage area for the apartment that I swear is almost as big as the living room. I didn't look too closely at some of it, because the lady and her kids who still live there were in the process of moving and I feel bad wandering through and staring at their things.
I take possession on June 15, and I cannot wait! The landlady is having a surprise party for her daughter that day, so I said I could meet her on the 16th instead. We're meeting tomorrow to sign the lease, so we'll hammer out the details then.
