Wow, look at that! I'm alive!
You know, I was going to update. Really. Not that I ever say anything fun or exciting... lol.
So last semester was a pain. I had Music Industry Analysis, Jazz History, Orchestration, as well as a few other classes... I think i had 6 last semester. 2 10-page research projects and then another project... that was a pain. Orchestration was freaking hard.... thank goodness I passed the class, and I don't think I was that far off of others who I know usually do well in music classes. I met a someone special, though, and all is great there.
This semester I am taking Jazz Theory & Improv to satisfy my theory requirements, a special topics in music management course on the Beatles (though we haven't yet discussed the Beatles in class, and here we are going into week... 5?), Vocal Lit to satisfy history requirement, Entertainment Law, University Chorus, and Senior Seminar: Career Options in the Music Industry. I'm working in the Alumni Relations office, and this semester am doing about 12 hours per week there. I have to talk to the admin in the office, though, because I'm going to run out of work study money at that many hours... so I don't know if she'll want me to cut back my hours, or just work until the middle of April or something.
Finally, it is nearing the end. I will graduate in May! Of course, I have to stick around for a couple of summer sessions, because I have to take a few more business classes. I can't believe it is so near. And don't you worry, I am scared shitless. LOL. I've been looking at jobs online quite often; I'm looking a lot in the Chicago area. I really have no desire to live in LA; I never have... I'm looking at music publishing companies, performing rights societies, performing arts organizations... anything having to do with the music industry. I found an internship at Cincinnati Opera that I would have LOVED... but unfortunately, it begins in April. Opera Columbus had a great one as well. I know there are lots of good performing arts companies in Cincinnati, and also Columbus.
Man, my body hurts. I went walking with my friend Theresa yesterday... 10.5 miles. Crazy?
Heh. Hmmm, I think that's it for the time being. Not much has been going on, as per usual.
