If you've been following my Facebook account, you'll know that I was affected by Hurricane Harvey when it decided to dump catastrophic amounts of water over Houston. I wasn't affected too bad by the actual hurricane as it was passing by, but more the aftermaths of its presence. The water had to go somewhere, and unfortunately, my apartment complex was very close to one of the dams that was in place to help control the flow of water through the city.
Due to record amounts of water, they had to open the dam at steady rates to control the flow of water. If they didn't, the dams would have broken and that would have made the situation even worse -- to have uncontrolled release of water flowing out over city streets...
Anyway, I was slightly flooded and evacuated from my place by the second or third day. Unfortunately, that means I had to leave a lot of things behind... As disappointing as that is, most of the stuff I lost can be replaced in time... Except one thing!! I just realized it.
My folder for my writing was still in the apartment. I didn't have a place for it when I first was cleaning out, and in my mind, I thought it would be no issue to get back inside later... Except it is and I can't get back there...
I know I haven't been writing in ages, but as fellow writers, I'm sure you would understand the feeling of losing your work -- especially since I like to write by hand, and it was my rough drafts of those stories I never finished... One of them was partially typed up, but the other one was completely on paper... I wish I thought of things more clearly back then... T__T
