Sorry I've been MIA lately. My computer has been on the fritz and it took me a while to fix it - kind of. Can't live with them, yet can't live without them either.
Anyways, long story short, something in the background was sucking up all the memory and it would operate at 90%+ usage just after I turned it on. The CPU was fine, at little to nothing. But when your RAM is operating at near max all the time, it lags the computer.
It took at least 20 minutes just to load everything and when I tried to do anything - frustration ensues. It lagged so badly I couldn't even get chrome to open. Half the time, it would try to tell me to kill the page cuz it's unresponsive. All my home page is is Google search! Ugh...
Did some research into the issue and it looks like it was a compound issue since there were multiple things draining the memory - one of them being my antivirus system... I always hated that thing.
I was using Mcafee, just out of sheer laziness since it was the one that came with it when I bought it. No more! >_<' I uninstalled it and downloaded a trial version of Norton instead. I'll have to go get a licensed version when I have time.
Then I uninstalled a bunch of other programs that I either downloaded recently or didn't use much. Just because I'm not sure which the other culprit is. If I'm not using it, why keep it? That, and took some programs that I don't regularly use off of startup launch.
Anyhow, it seems to be working better now. It still runs kind of high on RAM, but nowhere as high. At least I should be able to do one thing at a time.
Phew~ I really didn't want to get a new laptop, but mine is already 7 years old and if I must, I must.
But yeah, what a pain! There's only so much I can do on my phone and it wouldn't play any of the latest videos you guys shared (~_~;;)
Seriously! Gave me so much grief...
