Trip updates are going to have to wait... I was going through my pictures for the last two hours or so and only got through half. And that's only to pick out ones I want to throw onto Facebook! That's not even resizing everything since my camera is crazy good. I take my pictures at the highest setting of 16.2 megapixels, so the original size of the pictures are around 4-5 mb big. I have around 280 set aside so far... =__=;;
Let me loose and I can take thousands of pictures, so yeah... After last year's trip, my one friend didn't even bother to bring her camera because she knew I was there. LOL~
A trip related update though...
I know Haruko knows this, but maybe not others? But anyways, my skin is super sensitive to the foods that I eat. I can eat one little piece of chocolate and break out. Well... Considering I went to the southern States, I ended up consuming some of my "worst enemies" to break out sessions - BBQ'd foods and fried foods. If it wasn't either of those, it was something super rich with tonnes of cheese slathered on top of it.
... T_T
The whole time, I was breaking out like crazy. It's the worst it has ever been in my life! My mom saw my face, and basically had this, "OMG WHAT HAPPENED?!" reaction. It was all along my chin and some on my cheeks and forehead. Ack.
Oh, don't get me wrong. The food was delish! But I normally don't even eat much fried stuff because I'm always trying to watch my diet. More for my poor face rather than my weight XD
Luckily (or not so luckily), I had already scheduled a facial. It's one of the saving graces for my complexion since they extract all the yucky impurities that start developing under the skin. But maaan... It was PAINFUL, like WAY more than usual because she had to spend all that extra time cleaning up my face. If you have never, ever gone for a facial before, don't ask what they actually do... Haha~~ It's pretty gross.
But as you can imagine, the "extraction process" is exactly what it sounds like it is... So after the fact, my face was covered in "sores", since what used to be a pimple now became an open wound, some bigger than others... Yuck. It looks SO bad when your face is covered in mini scabs =__=;;
Because of that, I've been slathering on the aloe vera to help it heal, but I've also been forced to use a bit of my sister's powder to conceal it because otherwise, it looks reaaally red. I normally just use moisturizer/sunscreen, so it was a little different. And my mom was worried I was making it worse when I was telling her this.
So this is where I jump topics a little.
In Chinese uh, philosophy (?), there is the whole idea of yin-yang. A similar concept can be extended to the human body where the simplest comparison is the idea of "hot" and "cold". Depending on your body reactions, your natural state can be "hot" or "cold" or something in between if you think of it as a gradual scale.
People who have the tendency to get cold easily or have low blood pressure would be classified on the "cold" spectrum. On the other hand, people like me who have the tendency to break out would be classified on the "hot" spectrum. Given your natural state, the goal is to "balance" your body reactions with the foods that you consume. Because I'm more "hot" in that sense, I should be eating/drinking things that are more "cold".
I had dinner with my mom/sister and some family friends Saturday night, the same day that I got my facial, and my mom was like, "OMG! Look at her face!" to like all of them... =__=;; Yeah, I think they can see how terrible it looks for themselves.
Anyways, because of it they were like, "you should eat this" or "you should eat that". Because my body seems to be very "hot". It has become this state of not just not eating certain foods, but needing to eat other things to counter-act what is already "natural". It doesn't help that things like dark teas and coffee are considered things that are more "hot", and I love my morning milk tea... Every day...
Well... No more of that! Boo~
Instead, I need to drink more ginseng "tea" (which is NOT really tea, but herbally grossness), drink more water and eat more fruits/veggies.
On top of that, my mom has made a big pot of "green bean dessert" which is basically a bunch of green beans, boiled up with a few other things and sugar added to it. It's supposed to be very "cold" (opposite of what I am). Annnd... The other thing I've added to my "new diet"... haha~~ BEER! Apparently it's pretty "cold" too.
Maybe that's how other people (unknowingly) counter-act all the fried and BBQ'd stuff they eat... I know you Americans (and most Canadians) love your beers and what not :P
*sigh* I'm really not a beer drinker, but hey, if it's supposed to help my complexion... It's an easy "fix" to add to the regime. Better than my mom making POT-fulls of green bean dessert that I need to consume (pretty much by myself...) =__=;;
Maybe if all goes well, I can actually eat stuff like chocolate again! I'd still have to watch how much, but at least I could enjoy a little bit and not worry about my face... I hope.
hba,
