haha, somehow the day never really goes as I plan for it to.
Today being Mother's Day and all, we went out for a nice brunch with our parents after church. After that, we did a bit of shopping and came home. I was on the computer for a bit before I went to take a nap. Then after that, it was back up to eat something for supper. Then on the computer again...
I was planning to work on my story, but it never happened because I got distracted by this manga that was posted. Yakushiji Ryouko no Kaiki Jikenbo aka Ryoko's Case Files. When I looked it up, turns out there's an anime for it~
Basically it's another cop show-supernatural that's based off of a light novel series. For some reason, during my artbook collecting days, I got my hands on the one for this series and didn't really know what it was about... Lol~ Just thought the art was nice.
Quick summary -
Yakushiji Ryoko is a 27-year old elite superintendent with the Japanese police. Her subordinate is Izumida Junichiro, 33-years old "non-career" Assistant Inspector. They mainly investigate cases that have a paranormal/supernatural twist to them. Ryoko is your elitist, egocentric, "entitled" protagonist since she graduated with honors in all her school programs (fast-tracked) and comes from a well-off family. Junichiro is your steadfast, hardworking hero who worked himself up the corporate ladder.
"Career" police are the ones who are considered elite, having come out on top of those specialized programs. "Non-career" police are the average Joes who have to work their way up from the bottom.
Anyways, part of the selling point (for me! XD) is the fact that it's super obvious Ryoko is interested in Jun, but he's dense as a brick wall. (Read that on wiki.) Rather than seeing it that way, he just think she's being her normal demanding self, and thinks of his job as "Ryoko's babysitter". He's kind of the "stud muffin" of the series, where Ryoko's rival Yukiko also shows interest in him. But likewise, he's still completely dense.
If that wasn't cute enough for me to enjoy, his VA!! It's the man we all know and love as Hei -- Hidenobu Kiuchi!
When I was looking it up, it was hard to believe that DTB came out in 2007... And this series came out the year after in 2008.
Unfortunately, it's one of those series I have been forced to watch by streaming. SUCKS. But hey, if you want to watch it and that's the only way... No choice! :P
It's pretty short with only 13 episodes, but it's pretty fun so far. I'm up to episode 5 which was my fave so far. Though episode 3 was pretty fun too.
So far it's been a fun distraction. It's not dark or anything like that, but it's a crime show and it does have its hints of romance (which is a must for me!) so yeah~ I hope they keep the scanlations coming though (only the first chapter so far) because the art is so much better there. That said, BED TIME!
One day, some day... I shall get around to catching up on stories and working on my own... One day... =__=;;
