Psycho-Pass

Feels so weird... I haven't been following any new animes since second season of DTB and now suddenly, I'm following three!

Only bringing this up since Haruko asked for recommendations a while back and this is a third one that I unexpectedly got into.

The other two I recommended to her are Magi and Kamisama Hajimemashita. The reason I started watching those is because I'm following the manga version and I really like them.

Magi is the action-adventure shounen type which follows Aladdin, a boy who begins his adventures in hopes of discovering more about himself. Along the way, he makes friends/enemies who shape his view about the world around him. So far, it has followed the manga exactly, so it'll be interesting to see how far they get with it. After all, the series is still ongoing and it's at chapter 150+.

Kamisama Hajimemashita on the other hand is your shoujo series which follows our protagonist Nanami. Left with a debt created by her father who ran away, she finds herself homeless. In a desperate pinch, she saves a man who is terrified of dogs and in return, he gives her the right to use his house. Except... It wasn't just any house and he wasn't just any man. In actuality, his "house" is a temple and he himself is a land-god. So in return for staying at this place, he transferred his power to her and she becomes a human land-god. (Basically the first episode.) And then the story goes from there as she meets different people/gods/demons and what not. Very cute and entertaining!

So the new recommendation... Psycho-Pass!

Actually got into it because I saw a really awesome wallpaper on MT and decided to check out what it was about.

Basically, it's an action-thriller series and in some ways reminds me of DTB. That's always a plus! XD

In some distant future, there is a system (Sibyl system) which can analyze a person's state of mind and tendency towards criminal activity. It relays a number called the "Criminal Coefficient" and once it is over a set limit, the person is labelled as a criminal and the Public Bureau System steps in to apprehend or eliminate the threat.

The series follows Kougami Shinya and Tsunemori Akane where Kougami is an "Enforcer" and Tsunemori is a new "Inspector". An Enforcer is a latent criminal who has been recruited to work for the government and they're under strict regulations. Basically, the "dogs" of the force who do the dirty work to chase down the criminals who are on the loose. An Inspector is the "guardian" of these Enforcers and responsible for monitoring their activities.

So as you can expect, it's about police work and stuff like that... And it just... Has really cool technology aspects to it.

Kind of seems like DTB no? Enforcers are like Contractors while Inspectors are the regular police... And yeah, the main character is somewhat shrouded in mystery, so that's kind of like Hei. Tsunemori is a young recruit, but she's somewhat strait-laced (or old-fashioned) in her thinking with her ideas of right and wrong. That's kind of like Misaki.

LOL! I'm not like purposely trying to find parallels, but yeah! Things that remind me of DTB, which is suuuper rare, immediately catch my attention!

So far (up to episode 6) I really like it. The opening/ending are pretty fitting too, though I can't say I love it. Just seems really fitting.

If you have time, I'd recommend it. Give it a shot and lemme know what you think. That I'm not crazy, trying to find DTB in everything... :P
