My lesson today is what I have been wanting for that last 6 years. My instructor is amazing. I warmed up my horse, got her round, and warmed up myself at the same time. Then she attached a lungeline and had me work on my balance by doing sitting trot, no stirrups. Now this horse Casey, has HUGE gaits and i was scared I'd fall off. she had me putting my hands on my hips, hands out to either side and hands above my head to improve balance. then We switched into the canter. Outside leg back, and Squeeze. Again No Stirrups, but I was allowed to hold onto the saddle with my hands as Casey has a terrible canter, VERY bumpy. She wouldn't keep the canter on one lead, and I learned to handle unexpected transitions with no stirrups. When we switched sides we did the same thing. only Casey kept cantering to that dirrection. I am so sore, there is nothing like bashing your crotch into the saddle for 15 minutes!! I have also come to the conclusion that my balance and timing is terrible! Maybe after another 3-5 more lessons like this I'll have learned how to follow my horse. As it is, I REALLY ride like a sack of potatoes.
I also am really starting to like my boss, She is someone I can see myself being good friends with. She is bossy, and hardheaded, but very fair and nice. I've been told that I"m on her good side, and that I would probably hate her if I was on her Bad side, but as of now, I think she actually likes me, and I'm really starting to admire, look-up to, and like her too. This job is amazing. I go for the horses and now because I love the people out there.
Sorry Non horsey people, but I was so excited I had to post!!
