Thanks, bkwurm. :) I'm glad I finished it too. I can't believe I always do this: start a fic without a clear ending in mind. ;) Well, I guess I did know how to end it, I just didn't know how to get there. lol

The Landry, Jack, Olssen, and IOA bits are tiny little things, but I think all those things would finally add up in Daniel's head. Landry and Jack like Vala, points in her favor; the IOA doesn't quite like her, I (daniel) don't much like the IOA...point in her favor, I guess. *g* Naw, Daniel probably doesn't actively think this way, but it's gotta be there in the back of his mind, feeding his subconscious and intuition. Anyway, it felt like a good way to show Vala's standing in the program.

:D I guess that was a reference to the audio books being basically just them and not the rest of the "band." And it seemed like a good way of showing that Cam, Teal'c, and Sam didn't have a chance to meet up with Daniel and Vala between them saving the SGC and going on their mini-vacation. I wanted to show that this is when they're all back together after Daniel and Vala's adventure, Sam's research at Area 51, and Cam and Teal'c's undercover mission; and even to the three of them, Daniel and Vala have become snarkier than usual, I guess. ... Not sure if all of that came across, but it sounds like you got the gist of it, so that's all that matters. :D

Daniel doesn't have too much respect for the way the IOA conducts their 'oversight' of the SGC, especially after the Khalek incident.

This makes me consider how Jack would've reacted if he'd been in Vala's position. Would Jack have pulled the trigger? Maybe (?) if only to maim Ba'al, not kill him.

Yeah, I think it's highly possible Jack would've shot to maim and capture. Then again, it's Ba'al and Jack we're talking about, and with their history, Jack really might have put a bullet between his eyes. :O

Also, love, love, LOVE "Prototype"! That ramp scene with Daniel and Cam shooting Khalek --- guh! Heroic X1000!!!

Yes, if it had been a Ba'al vs. Jack scene, the memory of Abyss would definitely have arisen. So I guess it's good that it was Vala instead of Jack, for the sake of series continuity!

Mmmm... Cam + his wingman!
