A point of conjecture regarding Dean's contract.
Potential spoilage to follow. Proceed at your own risk.
With the number of times that Dean died, and given the fact that it was proven that Dean did in fact go to Hell, as was confirmed by Jeremy, couldn't the argument be given that Dean actually fulfilled his obligation and fulfilled the terms of his contract without putting Sam's life in jeopardy?
Thoughts? Anyone? I'm not a lawyer, but a historian/archivist by training, and the only legal knowledge I have has been gleaned from legal shows and historical readings, so please don't ask me to cite my sources, since I don't have any.
And Show? You damn near broke me last night! In the last two and a half seasons, I think this is the only one that had me curled up under the blankets hugging my teddy bear. Even Papa Winchester's passing didn't affect me nearly as much as having to watch what Sam became.
The gallows' humor in the first half (Dean vs sausage, which I couldn't watch,) made the second half all the more heartbreaking. Even though Sam died and was brought back potentially wrong, there was still some innocence remaining in him that has now been completely stripped away.
But still-Samdriving! and boyshugging! And next week's episode? I think this will the closest we are going to get to an actual, big screen, big-budget movie. Unless we can prevail upon TPTB to seriously consider something bigger. I mean, if Paris Hilton can get a movie deal, why can't Kripke and Co.? Perhaps a grass-roots campaign to demonstrate that there is a definite interest?
eta-um, yeah, just discovered that next week is NOT a 2-hour epi, like the preview suggested. But it still looks to contain enough action to be as good as a 2-hour. And my opinion regarding the feature film still stands.
