Now, what strikes me as odd is the fact that you are not acquainted with the limitation on women’s rights that is threatening us at this very moment. As inaccurate you may find my statements, your response is equally as ignorant of what is currently taking place in female reproductive rights. With the placement of John Roberts within the judicial system, most importantly as Chief Justice, we are facing a very conservative government that has in many instances expressed a desire to eliminate birth control. Cities in the mid-west, where many Protestants and strict Christians reside, are already banishing birth control, stating that it will not be readily accessible to customers in certain pharmacies where the pharmacist feels it is going against their religious beliefs. They are backed up local, state and federal government at the moment. To quote from an article I recently wrote in the newspaper:

“Birth control, no matter how controversial, is part of our industry in this overpriced, capitalistic system we call the government. It just might be my bleeding liberal heart is screaming for some hard-core grassroots revival to magically point out the truth about doing birth control in, but this truly affects all of us. Not just women, but men too. Many men have grown used to relying on the pill to provide protection from unwanted pregnancy. The birth control pill is also used for reasons nothing to do with intercourse, since it is a good replacement for hormones many women are deficient in. Its not just about that. Its about the fundamental right as an individual living here that one can do as they please with their body, their life and their decisions. Should anyone be giving you a lecture or a moral side note on the wickedness of planned pregnancy every time you pick up your prescription? I don’t appreciate being patronized by someone who clearly feels it is evil to prevent a life by taking a pill but lacks the conscience to determine that killing innocent people in a distant land is acceptable.
What strikes me as most disturbing is the fact that Viagra has not one issue whatsoever against it, which infuriates me to no end. How its possible for an 80-year-old man to take a pill to produce a reaction in his body that obviously needs goading while healthy and empowered young women are deprived of taking charge of their reproductive rights is beyond my scope of intellectual grasp.
To further illustrate how bothersome this entire puritanical debate is growing, the FDA’s health chief, Assistant Commissioner Susan Wood, recently
renounced her position, stating how frustrated she was at the inefficiency of the FDA’s leader, who postponed the passing of an official statement saying the morning-after pill could be sold safely without a prescription.”

Last I checked, we were living in a country where church and state co -existed in separate quarters. I can understand how many do not accept certain types of medication, however, their job is not to chastise or castigate women who want to be in charge of their body. Personal belief systems should not have any part in servicing a paying customer who needs a specific type of medication.
Along these lines, those who are pro-choice (I am not for abortion but I feel it is a woman’s right to do what she pleases with her body) are up in a frenzy with current talks of overturning Roe vs. Wade, which Roberts has been known to mention.

Please do not patronize me with exaggerations and twists on what I said. I love America, which is why I want to see it thrive and possess a real-not a pseudo- humanitarian approach. Sometimes as a nation we are driven by too much absolutism and our utilitarian roots drown us out so that we become a nation forged with helping, yet not necessarily the ones that truly need it. This is where I want to raise my children, because we are a nation of opportunities, it is rare to find any other nation offering so much as we do. Yet we have to ground ourselves in what is important.
