Ace had ensconced herself on the couch, and was scratching Myfanwy’s head when Jack eventually stepped out of his office. The winged dinosaur waddled toward him with an imperious croak.

The Dudley earthquake of 2002 was quite a big one for this country being measured at 4.7, it was the biggest onshore British quake since the Lleyn Penninsula one of 1984 that measured 5.4 (and scared the bejesus out of me in Liverpool). Strictly speaking it wasn't in Dudley either, but 2 miles outside of it.
There are tunnels under Liverpool in the sandstone that underpins the city, built by a man commonly known as The Mole of Edge Hill (Joseph Williamson). Some of them are even open to the public. There is info here if you want to know more. The thing with the tunnels is that no-one is really sure just how extensive the network is. There are also other things built underground in Liverpool, such as the HQ for guarding the Western Approaches. There's even a Cave under Matthew Street (home of the Cavern club and the Beatles).

I was still in Liverpool in 2002 and believe it or not, I slept through the quake! I'm quite proud of that fact, actually. *grin*
I love the idea of a Torchwood in the 'pool, are you going to take it further?

Give Grove St a little wave for me when you do, I lived in the halls there for 2 years. Those tunnels are amazing, and the perfect place for Torchwood, excellent idea.
Wish I thought of it. *g*
