Happy Goth Day!

May 22, 2009 00:14

Today is the day to celebrate gothness! Dress in black, crimp your hair, wear your shades inside, go to the supermarket in a pair of big boots and a corset, forgo the fake tan and decide to be pale and proud... you'd be suprised at how many ways you can embrace your inner goth!

A tassley black scarf?
I'm wondering what I can get away with as I'm not in work 'proper'

I'm going to see what I have. I'm in work, so I have to figure out what's work appropriate yet still goth. :)

I'm in work, but on a study day so I don't have to wear my uniform. I think I can get away with my big boots and a velvet skirt and wearing black in general, plus a bit of jewellery but nothing too extreme so wearing a corset is out!

I had no idea that it was goth day, but today I intend to buy a rather attractive black skirt that I spotted a while ago.

Black skirt! Yay!

I have a sticker in my car that says 'Powered by the Darkside' which I was very pleased to find after seeing just one too many pink stickers with flowers and sparkles and 'Powered by fairydust' in the back windows of cars.

Oh, I want to participate! I have nothing but sunglasses, though, I think. My mom doesn't even have dark makeup I could borrow. And my boots are cowboy boots and wellies.

But I'm very pale! And I support my goth niece in law. :)

Happy Goth Day!

If they're black you can still call cowboy boots goth - I've got friends who wear cowboy boots, and my first pair of 'goth' boots had 'western' styling.

And Pale is good! Too many people aren't proud to be pale.

Oh and your postcard was waiting for me yeterday when I got home. I love it. Thank you!

I dress in black too often at work for it to be a surprise to anyone! And I can't do pale even with makeup on. But the shades, now, that's an idea...

Pale make up looks silly if you aren't that way naturally. What gets me is the emphasis on *not* being pale even if milk-bottle white is your natural colour. When I have my pic taken with my work mates I generally make them look orange!

I freckle, but I don't tan easily and even if I do it's more gold than brown. It's far safer for me not to even try and so reduce my risk of skin cancer (which I am mega paranoid about due to some nasty moles on my back that I can luckily keep an eye on in the mirror). I've seen loads of Asian goths (Indian and Oriental) but I have to admit to only knowing a few afro-caribbean goths - and one of them is a bloke who occaisionally wears the odd nice frock.

I like her, especially the boots and the hat.

:)

I'd love to own boots like that in RL, but with my legs... Plus I can't walk in heels *grin*

Are you familiar with Miss Bimbo? I started it as a bit of a laugh, but I'm getting quite addicted!

I wasn't familiar, but I can see the appeal. Kind of a cross between Dollz and Sims...
