We Will Remember, but You'll Never Walk Alone!

Twenty years ago today, Liverppool FC were playing Nottingham Forest in an FA Cup semi-final. Thousands of Liverpool fans made the trip down to Sheffield to watch the game at the Hillsborough ground. There were 96 of them who died for that pleasure; men, women and children. Pretty much everyone in Liverpool knows someone who lost a friend or a relative that day, many of us had friends who were there and found themselves unable to do anything to help the unfolding disaster. The Hillsborough Disaster affected everyone in the city, no mater what team they supported at that time.

Today, at 3:06pm, spare a thought for those 96 Liverpool fans who never made it home that day and the families they left behind, by joining an entire city in 2 minutes silence.

ETA Here is a you tube vid of the last 10 minutes of the memorial service at Anfield. There were almost 30,000 people there and they were in damn good voice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZR2pYxsKp6s

If you choose to google images of Hillsborough, be warned that some of the photographs that were taken at the time are very harrowing.
