I found out that Aram is going to Iraq in June. I don't know exactly when, where or for how long. It's strange, I've known some people for years and I don't feel as close to them at all as I do to my friend Aram. A caring, honest, empathetic individual. The latest number. When exactly did life get a price tag? When did human decency take a back seat to private industry? How is it that we've fallen so far, so fast? I can't admit that this country is so horribly fucked, that there's no hope left. I'm one of the naive ones clinging to democracy like a life preserver, while the smarter ones move to canada like rats off a sinking ship. The constitution's written in pencil. The flag's dyed with blood.
Trying to get my mind off of that, I saw Daughter's and Chineese Stars on saturday. Ian was right, x508x worcester tough guys abound, as well as what must have been the scenest middle schoolers alive. Groan. Worth the trip though, much needed distraction, and I always enjoy having spit thrown at me. See also, Bo Rankin.
