Ornithology 1

Here are the first of my bird identification shots. Now that I’ve lost everyone…..on to the details. I got the idea of trying to just get a picture, no matter the quality, of all the species I have seen in Northern Virginia and of course any new ones I saw along the way. I’ve found 23 different species and some of the male/female differences as well so far. I made a list today of species I know I have seen in this area that I want to find again. 23 down, 34 to go, 19 of which should be relatively easy.

Here are the first 8 species. Let the fun begin!

American Robin

Black-Capped Chickadee

Blue Jay

Canada Goose (It's a female Mallard feeding in the back, but I'll save that species count for later with a better picture of a male)

Carolina Wren

Cedar Waxwing

Downy Woodpecker (female)

Downy Woodpecker (male)

European Starling
